MHEDA National Convention Highlights

Dealer Spotlight

MHEDA held their National Convention this year in Orlando, FL which ran April 23-27. MHEDA is the premier material handling industry association. The convention focused on the overall market and HR issues affecting distributors in light of Covid and labor shortages. Toyota Dealers were well represented at the convention including:

  • Toyota Material Handling Systems
  • Toyota Material Handling Solutions
  • Welch Equipment
  • Southern States
  • Thompson & Johnson

MHEDA presented an overview of the US and Global Markets which was presented by ITR Economics Chief Economist, Brian Beaulieu who validated it is a great time to work in the material handling industry. Overall, ITR was very bullish on the US economy in the short term and continued strong performance for the next several years.

Working through a pandemic has challenged us all with navigating the new work paradigm and the convention offered several seminars to help dealers support their efforts including:

  • Building A Talent Strategy
  • Everyone Is In Sales
  • Managing With Compassion

A critical component of any successful industry is the ability to attract new talent. TMH was pleased to host two dynamic students from Purdue University and introduce them to the many interesting facets of the material handling industry.

Finally, convention attendees were able to give back to their community by donating and participating in preparing 1,000 food and hygiene packs that were delivered to the Boy & Girls Club of Orlando. We work in a great industry and are fortunate to be able to give back to those most in need as part of the work we are doing.
