Over the next several months, the dealer training team will be assembling the PM workshop materials for distribution and developing additional assets to assist technicians with greater efficiency. Below is our plan for distribution and what you can expect in the coming months.

INTRODUCTION TO NEW TEAM MEMBER

Rachel Yancer: Joins the Dealer Training Team as an Instructional Designer. She will be responsible for updates to the Parts Training Programs and assisting in creating the training materials for TALNA e-learnings and the refresh of Dealer-facing documents.
NEW LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Dealer Training Team is excited to announce that a new Learning Management System (LMS) is coming soon. The new LMS will provide Learners, Administrators, and Instructors with new and exciting capabilities, ease of use, learner empowerment, and versatility. Over the next month, you will have an opportunity to get a sneak peek at the new LMS, so stay tuned for your chance to join in on the fun.

Our goal is to provide learners with high-quality, engaging training that results in improved customer satisfaction and user experience. The new LMS provides us with this ability through a highly intuitive, attractive, modern interface. The new LMS aligns with Toyota’s culture and practices by:
- Eliminating Muda through automation of notifications, enabling the learner to easily access their transcript
- Improving processes and streamlining the ability to enroll in and complete training
- Empowering learners and providing leadership with a clearer view of the organization’s learning programs
Benefits
- Intuitive, attractive Learner interface
- Role-based automated, manual, and self-enrollment
- Additional course functionality: uploads, downloads, and observation checklists, just to name a few
- Reporting functions: Create, Save, Share, Schedule, Export reports
- Expanded learner power and visibility of training opportunities
- The administrator dashboard provides an at-a-glance program reporting view and quick links to saved reports
- Custom training opportunities for ADMs and DMs, Administrators, TCTs, and Learners
Stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks!

What People are Saying about TLS: Within days of graduating from the TLS program, Troy Sink wrote back to tell us how the training impacted his value as a solutions partner:
“I feel that the training has provided me with the tools I need to listen to what the customer and the warehouse are telling me to become a solutions provider as opposed to just a forklift salesman. I would encourage anyone who is serious about making an impact with their clients to attend the training, and I am looking forward to using the techniques in all my future site surveys. As someone who is very new to the industry, I felt the pace and topics covered were easy to follow, understand, and went in-depth enough to provide me with a lot of expertise to share. In my first weeks with Hull Lift Truck following the training, I have had multiple site surveys at larger operations in the Grand Rapids, MI area. When conducting those site surveys, I felt more confident in my ability to understand what I was seeing. I had a very knowledgeable conversation with the decision-makers and made a few recommendations they had not thought of for their operations and were impressed by.”
SALES AND CSSR TRAINING
Sales and CSSR Certification Program Updated: We are pleased to announce the simplification and rebrand of the Sales and CSSR Certification Programs. Sales will now be referred to as New Equipment Sales Professional, while CSSR will be referred to as Aftermarket Equipment Sales Professional. The program will have a 60/40 split, with 60% of the curriculum being common and shared between the two groups and 40% being unique and separate. This change will take effect in tandem with the launch of the new Learning Management System (LMS) in July.
Historically, from a training perspective, the New and Aftermarket Sales roles trained independently of one another even though they required many common courses. This change will drastically impact the MUDA created and allow us to offer more courses and sessions in the future.

Shawn Ruffing – Toyota Lift Northwest:
Shawn has been a technician for 17 years. The thing he enjoys most about being a technician is the challenge of fixing equipment and making it safe and operable again.
When asked what he looks forward to most in becoming a platinum technician, he stated, “Knowing that I completed my personal goal of becoming one of the top Toyota Technicians.” To prepare for the Platinum Test, he looked over the Platinum Test Resources and Reference Materials provided by Toyota to get familiar with the information.
When asked what advice Shawn would give anyone wanting to pursue a career as a technician, he said, “it can be a dangerous job that takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Sometimes you work in tight spaces, and things can be cumbersome, but at the end of the day, it is a satisfying career where every day brings a new challenge.”
An interesting fact about Shawn is he has a small farm with a couple of cows and chickens.
His hobbies include spending time with his family on the boat, surfing, or going out on the Sea-Doo.
