At the Lumbermens Merchandising Corporation’s (LMC) annual meeting in Houston, industry leaders Mark Andres and Dave Davenport delivered an insightful presentation on material handling emission regulations that are reshaping forklift decision-making in the lumber industry.
“Embracing change isn’t just about compliance; it’s about leading the charge towards a sustainable future,” observed Mark Andres, the CEO & President of Total Industries, as he illuminated the journey towards electric material handling equipment for the members of LMC. His narrative didn’t just survey the current landscape but also cast an eye toward the growing shift driven by CARB regulations. Andres underscored the momentum gathering in California, an impetus that industry experts anticipate will ripple across the country, reshaping standards from coast to coast and setting a new benchmark for ecological stewardship in the industry.
The March event, drawing over 1,000 industry professionals from LMC’s extensive network of privately owned lumber yards, served as a platform to cultivate a strategic partnership. Headquartered in Wayne, PA, LMC’s collaborative spirit was evident as companies engaged in dialogue about shifting from traditional internal combustion equipment to electric forklifts.
“Today’s challenges are tomorrow’s opportunities,” Dave Davenport, Major Account Manager at Toyotalift Northeast, shared, addressing the collective shift towards electric machinery. Their presentation broke down complex legislation into actionable insights, offering a blend of practical advice and foresight into the industry’s trajectory.
Mark Andres added, “What we’re seeing is not just a trend but a fundamental transformation. It’s about positioning ourselves at the forefront of change.”
In a generous move, Andres later shared the presentation with the TMH Dealer Sales team, providing insight into the evolving landscape of zero emissions legislation.
“Toyota Material Handling and their strong dealer network will set the bar in leading the way to sustainability,” said Andres.
LMC has been a high-performing Lead Dealer National Purchasing Program (LDNPP) account. While lead dealer Toyotalift Northeast manages the LMC relationship, local TMH dealers quote equipment, book orders, and earn market share.
