The TMHNA Cybersecurity team has noticed a concerning new cyberattack tactic that has troubled our Toyota family: attackers flood a user’s email inbox with spam to create confusion and frustration. This flood of spam is followed by a call pretending to be IT support. This deceptive approach exploits the chaos and pressures the end user into revealing sensitive information or enabling the attacker to compromise company computers.
Here’s how you can protect yourself and our collective security:
- Verify Then Trust: If you receive an unexpected call from IT support, do not engage. Instead, hang up and call back using your company’s official IT support number.
- Guard Your Information: Never share your login credentials or personal information over the phone.
- Report Anything Suspicious: Your quick reporting can make a huge difference. Contact your IT or security team if you receive suspicious emails or calls.
We can thwart these attacks and maintain our security by staying alert and informed. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the TMHNA Cybersecurity Team at infosec@tmhna.com.
