Getting to know the Dealer Connect Operations Support Pillar


Meet the Dealer Connect Team

In this month’s dealer newsletter, we are going to focus on the Dealer Connect Operational Support Pillar under Cari Genier. The Dealer Connect Operational Support Pillar is made up of four sections and this month we will focus on the data side.

Travis Edwards is the Data Steward for the support team. Travis has been with TMH for just under a year. Travis has a bachelor’s degree in Management with a concentration in leadership. He served nearly 17 years in the military, where he worked in IT Management and Operations. He also worked as a DOD civilian for 15 years in Logistics Management. As the Dealer Connect Data Steward, Travis is responsible for the data flowing to and from the dealers. This will be for Dealer Connect and for those dealers that have chosen to go through the data sharing process.

Travis works with our partners in building and monitoring our Gold Standard in the Dealer Connect system. The Gold Standard is the standardization of how specific fields are used. This allows us to use specific fields for the data flow between Toyota and the dealers and also amongst the dealers themselves. Travis monitors those fields to confirm they have been applied correctly. For example, the model field will have models in it. Please keep in mind only the data that has been agreed to flow to Toyota is monitored.

He is also working to cleanse duplicate customers in the corporate customer database. Travis is not deleting any customers; he is only merging data at the Toyota level when the customer is the same customer. There are many rules and algorithms used for this process. An example would be a customer that is sold a Toyota by TMH National Accounts but is serviced by one of our Dealers. That customer will show up twice, so Travis would merge them and, when they begin using My Toyota, the customer will be able to see both equipment sales records and service records.
